3D Render by VESPERThis is my second entry into the contest The Art of Light

Abstract:
I designed Domina Mortis (Lady Death) in 3D to vividly illustrate the profound contrast between light and dark, life and death. By meticulously crafting her form and features with a blend of shadow and illumination, I aimed to encapsulate the duality that defines her existence. Her ethereal beauty, cloaked in darkness, symbolizes the inevitable end that shadows every life, while the interplay of light highlights the remnants of life and hope even in death. This stark contrast not only emphasizes her role as the harbinger of mortality but also invites viewers to contemplate the delicate balance and interconnectedness of life's transient beauty and the ever-present specter of death. Through this design, I sought to create a poignant visual narrative that resonates with the timeless themes of existence and oblivion.
Story:
Domina Mortis, the ethereal guardian of the boundary between life and death, stood vigilant on the edge of the Shadowlands. Her duty as her cold hand extends toward the viewer was to both invite and guide the souls of the departed to their rightful resting places, ensuring the balance of the cosmos remained unbroken. Cloaked in robes woven from the whispers of the dead, she moved with a grace that belied the heavy burden of her role. Each night, as the moon cast its pale glow upon the world, its light cutting through the fog of the afterlife, beckoning the lost and weary spirits to follow. With every soul she guided, she felt the weight of their stories, their joys and sorrows, but her resolve never wavered. For in the delicate dance between life and death, Domina Mortis was the eternal conductor, orchestrating the passage of the departed with solemn grace and unwavering duty.
Construction:
The creation of this figure and the many other characters were based around the Genesis 8 female figure and skeletons mesh that were modified in zbrush, she was textured in blender but was posed in DAZ, the cloak and the reaping blade are both unique creations, although, I boroughed inspiration for the pattern around the edge of the cloak from another design I had seen, her neck ornament was also customized on an existing asset from DAZ and utilized but modified, remeshed and molded in Zbrush and re-textured in Blender. She was lit in lightroom, and post production in Photoshop to accentuate the contrast of light and dark was with the help of assets I own. and many of which I created I painted. I also wanted to try a 16:9 render this time, which I felt would give breadth to this iconic figure.
I Hope she vividly captures your attention! Leave your thoughts here or on my contest entry I would greatly appreciate the feedback.
