There was a trick to double the floppy disk capacity, by making a hole in the side of the disk and put it upside down in the floppy drive.
RS232 interface, always the wrong cable, the plugs (9-pins, 25 pins, female, male) and crossed or not. USB is already on its way (mini, micro, USB-C, etc.).
