Alise moved quietly through the dense foliage, her boots barely making a sound on the damp ground. The jungle was alive with sounds: the call of distant birds, the rustle of unseen creatures in the undergrowth, and the ever-present buzz of insects. Sunlight filtered through the canopy in patches, creating a dappled pattern on the path ahead.

She had been trekking for hours, drawn by the stories she had heard from the villagers about an ancient temple lost to time. A thrill of anticipation coursed through her as she pushed forward, guided by a weathered map and her instincts.

Finally, she reached a clearing, and there it was—a stone temple, covered in vines and moss, standing silent and majestic in the heart of the jungle. The structure was massive, with intricate carvings of forgotten deities etched into the stone, telling tales of glory and mystery. Alise approached cautiously, her heart pounding with excitement and awe.

As she stepped closer, she felt a prickle of awareness at the back of her neck, as if she were being watched. Alise paused, scanning the shadows around her. The jungle seemed to hold its breath.

“Who’s there?” she called, her voice steady despite her racing heart. There was no response, just the whisper of leaves in the wind. She hesitated, then steeled herself and moved towards the entrance of the temple.

Inside, the air was cool and damp. Shafts of light from the broken ceiling illuminated the vast chamber, revealing more carvings and a stone altar at the center. Alise felt a pull towards it, her curiosity overcoming any lingering fear.

But she was not alone.
