pretty sure that has a lot to do with my very unnecessary self made godray shader which required reaaaally whacky tonemapping to work. if you want it to play with i can wrap it up on my webserver or google drive, it's a serious pain in the butt to use though.
i made it because i wanted a dynamic godray that i could get to move as i would rotate the sun-sky in environment settings--and the shader does do that using volumetrics--at the cost of your sanity.
