Everyone knows the earth is flat and that if you sail too far, you'll sail over the edge and into oblivion and be eaten by sea monsters. This picture is all the proof you really need. It started as a couple of renders in DAZ Studio. One render was a full image with the dome switched off. Another was the sky in isolation. The angle of light and the preferred cloud placement of the HDRI did not quite align for a single render. The third render gave key elements unique vibrant colors (RGB +BW). This was used to build a series of selection channels from the various color channels. The middle working image shows the breakdown. Also in there is the render and treatment of the compass flourish, the Illustrator border and the photoshop channels window showing the selection options. From there, respective portions of the image were stacked up and adjusted to provide ideal contrast levels. A few photoshop actions and filters later with a bunch of grunge brushwork thrown in, we arrive at the final image. The third working image features a split screen of the final image with its grayscale counterpart. Enjoy.
