Drifting Between Worlds

In a city that has long forgotten the difference between sky and sea, a lone traveler drifts silently above a submerged reality. The familiar rules of gravity dissolve, replaced by a dreamlike equilibrium where bioluminescent creatures glide through air as if it were water, and architecture sinks into an endless, quiet depth.

The boat, a symbol of journey and solitude, floats not on water but through a fractured layer of existence — a boundary between consciousness and the subconscious. Below, the city flickers with artificial life, while above, organic forms reclaim the space, blurring the line between nature and machine, reality and illusion.

The glowing wake trailing behind the boat is not merely movement, but a disturbance in perception itself — a visual echo of presence in a world where time and space behave unpredictably.

This piece explores the essence of surrealism — not just the distortion of reality, but the coexistence of multiple truths within the same moment. It invites the viewer to question: is this a world submerged beneath water, or a dream rising above it?

This project was a genuinely fun and rewarding experience, giving me the opportunity to explore new techniques and push my creative boundaries. To bring this vision to life, I developed a mix of custom models and shaders tailored specifically to support the mood and storytelling of the scene. Alongside that, I also incorporated kitbash assets where appropriate to build the environment efficiently while maintaining visual consistency.
