The Capture
3D Render by RedSpartanThe descent from orbit had been both exhilarating and incredibly frightening. Confined to the cramped interior of the entry capsule had been akin to flying a coffin through hell's maelstrom. The sudden deceleration as the chute had deployed had left her feeling both bruised and battered, but the far more gentler fall to the ground had been a welcome relief. The LZ was a swampy area some ten klicks north of the facility, the splashdown being into shallow water. She quickly blew the hatch and began to climb out, aware that the chute had tangled in overhanging trees and that the capsule was at an angle, its leading edge submerged in grimy looking swamp water. Immediately she became aware of a soft whirring sound and she glanced up to find herself looking into the eye of a nasty looking Confederation drone. Her instincts were to reach for her sidearm, but she noted the helmet lights of approaching soldiers and knew the game was up. They'd clearly been waiting for her and she was trapped as surely as a fly in a web. As they closed in Mya realised with a growing sense of certainty that she had been betrayed, and that her mission was doomed before it had even begun.
