That's something one doesn't see too often with elves (or elven-like figures). It is kind of cool to see when it pops up. I mean, all those medieval fantasy worlds have to progress to the modern fantasy era eventually, right? LOL

That's true! I've always liked the idea of contemporary elves, but the backstory for Carastariel is a slightly different concept from medieval fantasy progressing to modern. The concept for this character is more like a parallel universe or history where elves lived in a hidden realm, but suddenly revealed their existence to humanity in the 20th Century. Some "young" elves then decided to live in the human world, and Carastariel has already had two successful careers since moving to NYC roughly 75 years ago. The elves who remain in their home realm still live like medieval-fantasy elves.
