Ancient pact between dragons and humans

Unter der gleißenden Sonne, die den Strand in goldenes Licht tauchte, stand die junge Kämpferin Aelith und wartete mit klopfenden Herzen, was da wohl kommen würde. Ein fernes Grollen kündigte die Ankunft an. Ein mächtiger schwarzer Drache stürzte aus dem Himmel herab und landete mit donnerndem Getöse im Sand. Seine Augen waren von einem wilden Glanz erfüllt, denn es handelte sich um ein Weibchen, das glaubte, ihr Junges in Gefahr zu sehen, das zu Füßen der jungen Aelith neugierig vor sich hin schnupperte. In der Betrachtung des kleinen grünen Wesens versunken, realisierte die junge Amazone erst jetzt, dass sich ein aufgebrachtes Muttertier auf den Weg gemacht hatte, ihre allzu neugierige Brut zu retten. Doch Aelith wollte dem Kleinen gar nichts tun, musste dies jedoch erstmal an das imposante schwarze Tier kommunizieren.

Aelith wusste, dass die Drachenmutter das Feuerspucken vermeiden musste, um die Küsten des magischen Landes vor den zerstörerischen Flammen zu bewahren. Dieser Pakt zwischen Drachen und Menschen war alt, aber nun stand sie einem wütenden Drachen gegenüber, der seine Krallen und mächtigen Flügel einsetzte, um sein Kind zu beschützen. Da konnte so manche Flamme im Eifer des Gefechts entwischen und so ein Babydrachen konnte bestimmt auch ein bisschen heiß pusten.

Mit einem fließenden Schwung ihres Schwertes wich Aelith den ersten blitzschnellen Schlägen aus, um etwas Zeit zu gewinnen. Der Drache hob sich in die Luft, ließ seine mächtigen Flügel Schatten über den Strand werfen und tauchte dann mit einem schnellen Schwung wieder herab. Aelith konnte die Wucht seiner Angriffe am ganzen Körper spüren, doch sie hielt ihren Stand, suchte eine Lücke, um mittels Augenkontakt den Unmut der Drachenmutter zu besänftigen.

Schließlich ließ Aelith ihr Schwert sinken, hob die Hände und zeigte der Drachenmutter, dass sie keine Bedrohung war. Die Drachenmutter hielt inne, beobachtete Aelith und erkannte schließlich, dass dieses junge Menschenwesen keine Gefahr für ihr Junges und für die uralten Drachen war. Das Sonnenlicht spiegelte sich in den Augen der beiden Kämpferinnen, als sie ihre Waffen niederlegten. Ein stilles Band des Vertrauens wuchs in der Hitze des Tages, und der Strand kehrte in seine friedliche Stille zurück. Der uralte Pakt zwischen den Menschen und Drachen war ein weiteres Mal gesichert.

Under the glistening sun that bathed the beach in golden light, the young fighter Aelith stood and waited with a pounding heart to see what was coming. A distant rumble announced the arrival. A mighty black dragon swooped down from the sky and landed on the sand with a thunderous roar. Its eyes were filled with a fierce gleam, for it was a female who thought she saw her young in danger, sniffing curiously at young Aelith's feet. Lost in contemplation of the little green creature, the young Amazon only now realized that an angry mother had set out to rescue her overly curious brood. But Aelith didn't want to hurt the little one, but first had to communicate this to the imposing black animal.
Aelith knew that the mother dragon had to avoid breathing fire in order to protect the coasts of the magical land from the destructive flames. This pact between dragons and humans was an old one, but now she was facing an angry dragon that used its claws and powerful wings to protect its child. Many a flame could escape in the heat of battle and a baby dragon could certainly blow a little hot.
With a fluid swing of her sword, Aelith dodged the first lightning-fast blows to gain some time. The dragon lifted into the air, letting its mighty wings cast shadows across the beach before diving back down with a quick sweep. Aelith could feel the force of its attacks all over her body, but she held her ground, looking for a gap to soothe the mother dragon's displeasure with eye contact.
Finally, Aelith lowered her sword, raised her hands and showed the mother dragon that she was no threat. The mother dragon paused, watched Aelith and finally realized that this young human being was no threat to her young and to the ancient dragons. The sunlight reflected in the eyes of the two fighters as they laid down their weapons. A silent bond of trust grew in the heat of the day, and the beach returned to its peaceful stillness. The ancient pact between humans and dragons was secured once more.
