Stories are about change.

Well, they're about characters and how the story changes them. Graeson begins his story as a blacksmith's apprentice, with aspirations of becoming a reputable swordsmith so that he might support his family back in the small southern city of Baffin. By sheer luck, it's a 12 year old Farro whom he rescues from a band of thugs in an alley off of the market square in Jahka. Farro sends him to apprentice with the royal blacksmith, but then it's Godwin Braithwaite who discovers his talent as a fighter and turns him into a bodyguard at the keep. By then, he's beholden and loyal to Farro in ways that he believes are tied to the Lucky Star, and being a superstitious southerner -- for Graeson, that means everything.

It takes him a few hundred-thousand words to finally admit to himself he might be on the wrong side of history. This image reflects one of those moments when Graeson realizes he needs to start making amends.

I did like the close up version, too. We can see the anxiety on Graeson's face in this one. I think I got lucky that I didn't have to shift the light very much, either, which was a plus. Thanks, Mel. You are a star!
