As Ryanne entered the dining room, the three guardsmen with whom Alys had "wrestled" surged to their feet, heads bowed.

They murmured, "My Lady."

At the rear of the dining room at a small table with a whole chicken completely untouched and with an empty plate before him sat a cadaverous man who did not rise but stared after Ryanne. A huge raven stood on a stool at the table, also following Ryanne's every movement.

The other two women followed closely behind, still wondering at the reactions that Ryanne had provoked.
