Run!
3D Render by rrkknight3RUN!
Alys took off at a run, her companion running even faster.
Ceridwyn summoned a tremendous seething ball of magic, a grating sensation just below hearing coming from it.
And Ryanne stood her ground, knowing that the dragon was for her and that running was futile with it coming so quickly.
TRYING TO ESCAPE
At the last moment just before she was encircled, Ryanne tried to dive over the monsterous appendage.
The hurdling claw slammed into her, knocking her unconscious, and closed.
TAKEN
The dragon ascended quickly. Ceridwyn's magic struck one of its wings and it mouthed a silent cry of pain.
Alys turned as she felt the draft from the beast's wings. Furious, she said, "Why didn't you run?"
Ceridwyn had reacted instinctively, using magic that destroyed things that lived. Now she could see that the dragon was Risen.
She had never known such despair.
IS IT GONE?
Alys was angry. Angry at Ryanne for not running. Angry at Ceridwyn for not bringing down the dragon although she knew that was absurd. And angry at herself for not grabbing Ryanne as she started to run.
The brave guardsmen who had come to arrest her crept out from their hiding places, asking "Is it gone?"
She would NOT kill them.
