The Ventilation Shaft Part 2 Tug of War

Shaana scrambled in panic, pulling herself up much faster now, any idea of stealth now forgotten. Mya realised she was approaching fast and began to move herself upwards at an accelerated pace, the sound of the creature below urging her quickly towards the opening and salvation. She clambered hastily and inelegantly into the upper level corridor, rolled herself around and reached back into the hatchway to offer assistance to her companion. Shaana’s hand suddenly gripped around her wrist like a vice and Mya felt herself suddenly pulled forward towards the opening and a deadly dive back into the shaft beyond. She realised something was trying to pull the girl back down, that one of those grotesque appendages had a grip on her. Mya braced herself against the sides of the hatchway and pulled with all her strength. Shaana’s face came into view, scowling with anger and fear as the creature below pulled back in a horrific tug of war.

But Mya was winning, slowly, inch by torturous inch she pulled the girl through the hatch. Suddenly the creature let go of its grip and howled in frustration, the unexpected release sending both women backwards into the corridor in a heap of heavy breathing and relief. They lay there for a moment, Shaana face down, eyes closed, gulping for air, Mya propped up on her back, equally breathless but watching the opening through which they’d fell with a fearful scrutiny lest one of those slime covered tentacles appear above the lip.

But nothing stirred and all was silent, the thing seemingly gone back into its lair far below. Mya looked over at the girl, who looked back with an unexpected smirk on her face.

‘Well fuck’, she grinned, ‘that’s not one I’ve seen before.’

I did the Part 1 image of this episode and realised as I was finishing the accompanying narrative that I really needed an image to go with the last part, hence Part 2 which I managed to quickly knock up this morning
