Wed, Jul 08Your glib, AI-esque "Big Changes at RenderHub: A Platform Evolution" post AFTER you chose to nuke an entire section of the store was such a callous, tone-deaf and frankly sh*tty response that I had to wonder for a minute if it was ACTUALLY written by a bot.
Let's clear something up: I have a day job. Most of us top-rated vendors do. Adult content makes up about 5-10% of my store. I won't struggle to pay rent if I leave. I recognize that some artists do, and through your actions you may have in fact caused them a real financial crisis. I hope you recognize this and give it some serious thought.
The most valuable commodity you can trade is TRUST, and uhh boy, you just nuked it. I have not decided yet if I am going to close my store. I'd rather not, because there are so many people who go here to purchase my characters. I will, however, never be able to trust you again after this, and considering that most vendors seem to echo this statement, I might just follow their lead.
Still deciding. People have asked me to stay, and I might, as a gesture of respect toward my customers. But my trust in you is gone.

1. don't offer BS excuses or package it in some 'inspiring speech'. Just state that you hate it too.
2. Don't joke about it or try make light of it. People ARE going to suffer. Don't casually say 'ME' as in, yeay I'll still be here.
3. let them know you're trying to think of a plan for them... if you are.
Be honest.

Wed, Jul 08You're still not *getting* it, do you? I'm asking, since you seem so genuinely oblivious to this backlash.
It's not so much WHAT you did, it's HOW you did it. Take my words to heart and reflect on them for just a moment. If you had given your vendors one month's notice, most could have found a work-around. A week would be pushing it, but it's infinitely better than nothing. Hell, even 72 hours would have been better than posting a glib "explanation" AFTER you took down their stores and galleries.
THINK about what you did, and why you received this response. If you still have a platform a year from now... Maybe try to build up trust. If your business goes belly-up, at least you'll know why.

But Ion, I'm not going to start an argument with the CEO of a fantastic website. This place is a goldmine. You're clearly smart enough.
But you cannot just drop some post saying that you made some decison for renderhub the one moment, and then later admit that you were basically forced into it. The initial post was basically dishonest. Do you need explaining how that is wrong. I can help if you want, and I'm not being nasty there. Maybe things are just very rought for you right now. idk.
But, people will suffer. Don't make light of it.

Wed, Jul 08Ion, stop the act.
You know exactly why you are being called dishonest. Do you think we can't read? We can still see your original post on why you CLAIMED you made the decision. Now you're saying you were forced by credit card processors. Why make that tone-deaf "inspirational evolution" post if your hand wasn't being forced? You were being dishonest. That is not an opinion, it is a fact, and everyone semi-fluent in English can read it.

Wed, Jul 08How about this, admit that you messed up.
I'm getting the feeling that you're panicking now. I cannot imagine what it is like to run a killer website like this and then have some corporate ass asshole just force you into ditching a 3rd of your vendors because of 'reasons'. Yes, I'd imagine the website will take a huge hit.
But then everyone sees their stuff disappear, then some casual annoucement that RenderHub is moving on, no real explanation other that that it's 'better for the long-term future'... then after a lot of backlash, you admit you were strong armed.
If you just started off saying: yo, these CC assholes are forcing me to do this, you would have gotten a LOT more sympathy from us. And if you then also made a promise to perhaps think of an alternate plan for NSFW artists, that would have been even better! You're clearly smart enough, I mean, look at this place. No dummy can just randomly slap a place like this together...
... unless you're being insincere. Do you want to help us?
Or do you just wanna make money and move on from NSFW?
it's hard to tell what's going on.

That said, if you're serious about helping out the NSFW community:
Talk to 3DLoki from Rotica. They recently ditched a CC processor that required them to drop all manner of content from Rotica.
Now, if you know Rotica, a lot of stuff there is pretty crazy, even for me. Chances are that CC processor would be perfect for here.
I mean, you haven't ever permitted cannibalism here, right?
Give it a try. Maybe you can set up a second payment channel for them, or an affiliate site.

I'm not going anywhere but I do feel bad for the vendors this effects. One of Renderhubs draws was its " One stop Shop" for me. Guess thats over. Already have wishlisted quite a few products over at "R'otica" from several of the vendors from here. I'll just wait for R'otica to get their situation figured out. Overall, I'll buy from whatever store is selling something I want or need. Still buy quite a bit from several vendors over at "R'osity" and even from Daz at times if its a prop or environment that ties into my type of renders.

Wed, Jul 08As a R'otica vendor who has been around since 2006, I can say the store is far from perfect, but they have always, and I do mean ALWAYS fought for their vendors. So yeah, do come around when the new team gets the high-risk payment processor stuff sorted. All my products, even the SFW ones will be there.

Wed, Jul 08@Erogenesis, IMO the biggest flaw with R'otica is their extremely outdated software. Submitting a product there is like navigating a minefield. I'm a veteran (20 years!), but for newbies it can (and is) extremely daunting. If they can hire better coders and get their software up to date, I believe they would have a HUGE upsurge in content creators willing to work with them.

Wed, Jul 08@henrika: tell me about it HAHA! It's awful, and I say that with a big smile and a tear. Bless Ehjay's heart, he put so much effort into it but he was ultimately shafted by the devs he hired. I hope they can improve it somehow. I agree it would likely spike their output.

Ion, I am going to have to go with Erogenesis on this one, you just aren't doing yourself any favors with how you are setting the tone.
And I do believe you were caught between a rock and a hard place, the problem probably started with a comic and things spiraled straight down hill from there.
But that original post was way too upbeat for the amount of damage it caused, it almost reminded me of "Spinal Tap" where one guy quit the band and the rest of them gave a concert starting out with "we hope you like our new direction" Which was of course a disaster.
In any case, in answer to the post topic, I'm staying. I really do think there wasn't any choice about what had to be done to keep the site alive, as in at least being able to sell anything, not just adult content, and there wasn't any time to do it differently the way and at the speed that things unfolded, and there is still plenty of stuff I'm interested in.
And my bottom line is still you really need to straighten things out with your content creators, that's got to be your first concern. Your customer base is not going to stick around without them.

If you just be HONEST, none of this woudl be this bad.
Many people wouldn't be this angry.
Yes this shit with Visa/Mastercard 1084 BS needs to end...and it's soon going to, but you can't act dishonest and hope that people will take you serious.
All you are doing, is gaslighting and goalpost shifting which won't help your case any, as many have already pointed out.

Fri, Jul 10I revised my opinion on that since the Adult Comics were shut down in August 2025 and I thought it was a lot later. But in regards to if that was possible, yes, in the US owning or distributing comics with underage characters in sexual situation is illegal and quite capable of doing that.

All I'll say is this.
What's left of my store here, I'll leave here. It's not worth the time and effort to take it down. If any thing is still selling, great, but this is gonna hurt since I know what sold well and what didn't. Will I upload new products here... I don't know.
I've been doing this, to varying degrees since 2009. Blogger, Tumblr, Twitter, even Deviant Art, I've seen Adult Creators silenced or chased off of them all... I've seen Renderotica go to hell and bounce back a couple of times. This started out as hobby, but now 3D is what I do for a "living". It's all I have left due to health issues. It ain't a great living, but it was a solid side hustle for nearly 10 years, and for the last 5, it's all I have. I'm not going to pretend here, this is gonna hurt me a lot more then it hurts most over the next few months while I sort things out. I'm not saying any of that for pity, just to explain my position.
I'm getting that Ion didn't WANT this to be how things played out, but he doesn't see any other way forward. Am I happy about what's happening or how it was handled, no. Do I want the man to loose his entire business, no. What am I gonna do moving forward, I have no idea.
I have no clue how to fix this mess. Someone much smarter then me may have a bright idea to solve this, but I got nothing. I can only do what I can do, and hope I come out the other side in one piece. If anyone here has any smart ideas, now would be a good time to speak up. Just like every time there is an exodus from a platform, we have two choices, either stick together as a community, or scatter like rats from a sinking ship. I'm tired of watching everyone scatter, only to meet back up a year later on the NEXT new platform, full of hope and no back up plan...
Being hurt is understandable, but solves nothing. Being Angry get's you motivated, but doesn't actually fix things. Being Creative is how shit gets done
So I wish you all the best, I hope we stick together this time, and we'll see how this shitshow plays out

However, I'm going to scale back my productivity (projects) here for a while and focus first on supporting my favorite NSFW platform.

I'll stay here as well. The only issue I have this is complete lack of transparency. I plan on not just creating Daz assets in the future, but also environments for games and props and RH has 3D section. As someone who worked in marketing for close to a decade it could have been handled a lot different. I do feel for all fellow content creators whose lives are now in danger because of this change. It's so sudden.

After reading all the threads and Ion and Loki's comments, I've reversed my decision purely as a buyer here to leave. My primary issue was messaging more than the decision itself, and it almost felt insulting to just pull it with no notice when RH was largely the only place left for adult Daz assets, and amidst all the slop, there are some quite good adult assets being created by certain sellers who I hated being impacted and it almost felt like they were just being dismissed. It also felt hypocritical to pull that but keep the celebrity lookalikes and stolen IP from other things like video game characters.
It certainly seems there was some external groups at play who are empowered to attempt to be (in their mind anyway) the morality police because Jesus or whatever (read: they want power for powers sake, they don't actually care) and are likely using the threat of suing into oblivion to further their own twisted agendas. If RH was hosting adult stuff with children or whatever then that's an issue obviously, which I assume was not happening. But assuming that's not the case, then it's the assclowns pulling this crap we should truly be upset at.

I wish everyone best of luck with what's currently going on, hopefully it may pass soon & hope RH can find a way around it because still... We all know NSFW/Adult contents make the most purchase here. It sucks that we didn't get a notice at all, woke up one day with 80% of my products being no longer available on my store. I know some others got it worse. It's not fair for a lot of vendors who heavily relies on their NSFW products.
I might stick around, going with the new policy and see how they'll perform. All I can ask is for you guys to think about the vendors and give them a chance to re-new their products before leaving, it would mean so much to us in this crisis.

Thu, Jul 09As strictly a consumer, I've bought so many products from the adult category over the years, not because of it being adult oriented, but simply because I have found so many props, poses, and such in packages that you just can't find in the regular market place. Diving boards, buckets, funnels, medical products, pitching/serving machines, slimes, fluids... and on and on. Some might take a quick trip to photoshop, but I do think alot of vendors could repurpose some of their products and sell as a sfw product here, and sell the nsfw over at "R'otica once they get their store up again. Might actually boost sells because some people just don't want to look in the adult section.

Thu, Jul 09Thank you for supporting adult vendors! I don't think there's another option anyway but to repurpose our products though I'm not sure about posting on R'otica
I'll stay. I'm not a vendor, but I am active in the galleries. I have bought products here too. I closed my store on Rendo some years back and I have no time to make products these days. Maybe someday, but not right now. I do feel for the vendors, but having been in the web design industry for 24+ years, I also get their dilema. I was approached over the years on at least 8 separate occasions to make adult sites. I looked into it in-depth the first time someone asked for a quote, and wow, what a nightmare of red tape it was back then! I cannot imagine how complicated and what a pain in the ass it must be in this day and age.
I feel for both the owners and the vendors. I sincerely hope there is a resolution that can be found which works for both.

I do not post or use the forums much, I liked to post images when reviewing products and I just tried to upload one when I found the Adult greyed out. I had a back log of almost 900 products, mostly purchased, to work through, guess that mini project is over.
For me, the main software site is where I get most of my SFW products, clothing, hair, props and scenery (Shredder / Pawngame you are good too) And I spend my time here for the characters and NSFW stuff. And I already have a huge back log lot of characters (thanks to agd).
I'm also not a fan of others dictating what and where I can spend my money and imposing their morals on me, especially if their argument relies on an invisible spaghetti monster in the sky. However I can understand a business doing what it feels right to stay open, its a tough situation to be in.
My wishlist has halved (I really was hoping to hit 1k items here) , I'll buy all the cars that I've had my eye on for a while, then go see what else is out there. To all the vendors impacted by these changes, thank you for the great work, stick with it, something might change or another door might open. I also know some of you host elsewhere as it used to frustrate me when overwrite popped up when manually adding to my library! (I've paid some of you guys twice!)
If I could upload Littlest Hobo end credits I would.

am staying for several reasons:
*) I have no reason to leave
*) I received a warm welcome and good advice from Foxy3D when my initial products were rejected
*) Yes, communication regarding this issue hasn't been ideal, but the team consists primarily of technicians rather than public relations experts. What I want from a website is for it to work properly and be secure-which is the case here. I would rather have communication errors than personal data leaks.

As long as Artists and Creators I enjoy continue posting here (and R-H can keep the doors open), I will wander by. My spending will decrease.. there is an upswing of resubmitted products for now; but R-H has been trending G9, character heavy, and low effort junk from a parade of "new" vendors. Depiction rules combined with the sites quick to market (low to no test) strategy is an opening for more junk to flow in. Maybe I'll find some new favorites or just stick with vendors I know.. But make no mistake, I am angry that this site screwed over top selling vendors Again.. this site screwed over vendors and Artists I truly enjoy, some will likely not recover.

Just some more BS being done by people who wanna run your life, while they see how much they can take from you, as they live with no restrictions. I never did much adult content but the question must be asked....where does it end with these people giving these ultimatums? Will a nude portrait next year be deemed too hardcore? I wanna stay, because I feel some people enjoy my renders, and there are some good people here. Maybe it's just a waste of time though. I rendered on my own without sharing here and I can do it again. I was also thinking about transitioning into photography so maybe now is the time. I'd urge everyone who is doing anything but G rated content to think about it. They take inch by inch, but what they really want is a mile. IS IT WORTH YOUR TIME?

Having read what Ion has posted previously I'm sticking around. Its at least decent enough news to know this wasn't the Cards forcing their hand but knowing its a bit worse than that, things suck for everyone right now. Mostly hoping the situation results in Renderhub staying afloat since it is a good site at the end of the day.

Honestly, I think a majority of the accounts that are "leaving" are extras created for the sole purpose of inflating the outrage. I swear, as "dishonorable" as their decision might have come across, the way part of the community works here is more pitiful.
The lack of transparency is a double-edged sword. If you've participated in the contests in the last few years, then you've seen this happen. They're not exactly clear on how the winners were selected, and as soon as they're announced, a heap of brand-new accounts pop up to hype up some and poison the well. Ten people complaining equals four people and six alternate accounts because someone is either too cowardly to stick their own username to it, or they want to make themselves appear to have more friends than they actually have.
Heck, we recently had another sudden purge of material and vendors depicting minors, came out of the blue, and their stuff wasn't just pulled, but their whole accounts were banned. Mind you, a couple of those just created new vendor accounts and started selling all over again as if nothing ever happened. That this would happen in the wake of that is little or no surprise.
As for myself, I haven't been able to make a purchase here in a long time. Every time I try, I suddenly find my debit card locked until I call my bank and explained that yes, I tried to make a purchase, get the go ahead to make said purchase, and find it locked anew. Makes me wonder what watch lists I've found myself on because of the "high risk" involved in whatever's causing it. So maybe, just maybe after this clean-up, I can actually buy something. Because as it stands right now, I can't vote either way with my wallet.

I'm staying. I'll try my best to get my NSFW products good to go on here, but for the foreseeable future they will be listed on Renderotica for the most part as they seem to be wanting adult content. Unless they somehow get squashed as well. Since I am a SFW and NSFW developer, I'm good with both areas.

Fri, Jul 10If it helps, I bought your tennis ball machine x simply to use the machine as a serving and pitching machine, simply no other options out there. Same with your Kinky camping set. Grabbed it because at the time, there really weren't any modern camping tents. I've actually bought so many products from the adult vendors over the years, not because it was marketed as adult content, but because there were so many useful, everyday items in the products that the non adult vendors just don't make.
I do little here, invest little time and don't know any people, etc. And it looks like it won't be any more. It's a pity, actually.
Like a job that you thought would be great, but after half a year you see much more clearly and read job advertisements again. In my case, I dream of how nice it would be if someone else created a cross-site platform with a subscription/links offer for established creators, bundled their presence on RH, DA, Cubebrush, Daz, Patreon, etc., offered small contributors a try, and enabled free (exclusive) freebie uploads (to build traffic).
A platform that would make it easier for vendors to switch stores and consumers would have a starting point for searching (and inspiration) instead of getting lost between the existing options.
If you couple this with a good search function and the ban of AI-Slop, a business location in the Global South - could be promising.
(I'm not a complete dreamer: Maybe this could develop into a shopping platform that is as reliable as the Amazon Marketplace at the beginning and ends up like AM today, but with a bit of luck it will also be spared from enshittification long enough for the AI bubble to burst).

Fri, Jul 10Not sure if RH is deleting or keeping the old nsfw files we've already bought, but I did notice the converted to sfw items are overwriting our previously purchased items download links. Luckily I saved my zip files but is there anyway to update previously bought items without loosing our the nsfw files links? Maybe just reintroduce the converted products as new products with a disclaimer for those of us that have already bought the nsfw items.

Fri, Jul 10Yeah, I noticed the product update notification as well. Luckily, I have my downloads backed up but I noticed the changes before placing the updates in my libraries. I deleted the updated file. I don't want an overwrite of the products I bought.

Fri, Jul 10And to clarify, I understand the need to update to get the product sellable again, but I would think it should reflect the change...such as SFW update or 'mature' update or some such naming while keeping the original file (for those who bought it) available. If not, this will wipeout purchases made before the change.

I would hope RH would not be deleting the old files that were paid for and if that was going to be the case they should make a main page notice to download and save your previous files before a certain date. If not, that would be *very* bad.

If only the promo images are changed, the .zip file remains unchanged. To be honest, I don’t really see why anyone would want to change the .duf files etc just to get an SFW rating. I’m currently mulling over a few ideas myself on how I can change not only my remaining projects but all of my projects to SFW (Promo)... and maybe even achieve a lower rating than Mature. See here:

Well in this case it is a negative. Four updated products from Pawngame, the contents have been made SFW. The original products that were purchased are no longer available for download.

Fri, Jul 10Actually, it was three updated products from Pawngame I received. The fourth was from another vendor with a true 'non-adult' issue with the product. I hope Pawngame sees this so the original files can be restored.

Fri, Jul 10Whole situation is fubar but for the vendors that do decide to update older content to sfw, I hope they'll just add it to the store as new content so we don't lose the download links to the original, just in case hard drives crash and other wtf moments.

Fri, Jul 10@pushee-ri- in this case I basically gained a sister store to the original I bought because the product I bought was renamed so it wouldn't have overwritten anything but I did lose the download link to the original file. The second product that was updated, left out some of the original files from what I could tell. Still not losing anything, but again, lost the download link to the original file I bought.
So basically, since the original product has been removed from the store, why not just add the updated product as a new product. That way the consumer doesn't lose access to the original product in their download links.

No hard feelings, totally respect that and your creativity. Wish the store made it easier for you and the other vendors. I just wanted to make you aware the updates were blasting out the old download versions.

No worries on my end. RH really dropped the ball on this one. No way they didn't see this coming and couldn't at least give the vendors and consumers at least some time to prepare and grab some of the products in their wishlists and such. I still will try to support you and others as much as possible whether here or at "R'otica once they get up and running again.

Tue, Jul 14Sorry for what happened to you Pawngame, best of luck, you'll get there!
I'll keep my one product here (unless the mature category gets purged too) because I don't like it when digital-anything gets discontinued and can't be legally obtained, but I'll look into selling at Renderotica (a big if because that site has problems too).

Sun, Jul 12Thanks
I am currently working on another character, Astrid, who will be for Genesis 8.1 Female. She will have less individual bending morphs than Yume (around 150, compared to 194 for Yume) but they affect larger areas of the body and have more folds per morph and they have more complex triggers (compound rotations, such as when the arms and legs bend and twist at the same time).

As long as mature is still permitted, I'll be here.
It is a shame about the censorship, and I believe it will hurt the site more than it helps long term, but it is what it is. Hard to believe that the same CC processors who are fine with movies depicting sex and violence with real actors have an issue with it when it's imaginary people in renders and/or animations. Seems like a great business opportunity for a new CC processor who isn't into being the thought police to come in and dominate the market.

Well, I am neither a creator nor a consumer of NSFW content, at least not in 3D, so I suppose the question is for those who are. Even so, I empathize with the sellers who have seen their source of income affected and with the users who create renders with that theme.
I went through something similar when I closed my Etsy shop, from which I received regular and good income; it was a hard blow.
I support those who continue and the site in general by making my purchases here.
I hope things calm down soon.

I shall not belabor the point-nor do I possess the standing to do so, given my recent arrival here. However, I wish to affirm my decision to remain with this platform. Among the many factors that initially drew me to RenderHub was its non-exclusive marketplace model, which permits me to distribute my products through additional channels as I see fit.
It is worth noting that creators of adult content continue to face systemic marginalization and public censure, a situation perpetuated in no small part by the restrictive policies of major payment processors. These institutions assert moral authority derived from religious texts that, upon scrutiny, contain their own share of explicit content. Until such organizations reconcile this contradiction, adult content creators will remain subject to disproportionate scrutiny-despite serving as a foundational economic pillar of the online media ecosystem.

I'll stay here as long as Renderhub allows it. I'm not the one to tell them what to do or not to do, or who to remove or not remove. Ultimately, the administration is free to set its own rules. In my case, I'm simply sharing the work of porting a character to DAZ, something many people have asked me for and dreamed of having on DAZ. Not everyone knows how to port a character, which is why people pay for it, so thank you, Renderhub, for giving me the opportunity to be here.

Even though "thoughts and prayers" won't do diddly to salvage anyone's rent payment, my sympathy to those sellers this purge affects most. I've no need for smut or porn, I'm certainly no stranger to the stresses from a loss of income. And if any of you ever decide to jump ship and start making griffins, hippogriffs, hippocamps, and other sundry fantasy creatures, I'll certainly be here to support you with mah wallet, too.

Im not a vender so the NSFW problem really has no effect on me . But im staying anyway , im far to lazy to be posting my pictures every where . I only post them here and i have a few on DA.
Life is to short to be putting images on multiple sites ( for me any way , to lazy).
I like it here , like the people .
