3D Render by EverwildThe Marshes, Suni and Charlie, enjoying a quiet moment in the meadow (without all the kids). Together, they've run the Drunken Dryad Boarding House & Inn for the last fourteen years and work hard for the visitors to Bendrift and Capria. Their quaint 25 acre spread has hosted many envoys, dignitaries, and nobles as well as a few trouble makers. However, thanks to the man-eating pie safe, no one ever dares to steal any of Suni's award winning pies any more.
(I promise, it doesn't actually digest them. Just makes them hang out in cramped quarters until someone lets them out...)
Thanks for peekin' in. Be warm, dry, and safe.
Eve
(Note: this is a revised edition of an older render.)

Man Eating Pie Safe? Hilarious. Or a close relative of Terry Pratchett's "The Luggage"?
But having magical items handy is, well, handy: I for once have the Nagging Hat, which helps me conveying critical remarks to fellow artists. He's a distant relative of the one in Hogwarts, only grumpier and he's a nitpicker. But he lives a happy live in his box, peering down onto my working screen and occasionally commenting.

Wed, Mar 26No relation, alas. The Luggage has more in common with the self-delivering wooden pie boxes, though. They sprout feet (little wooden pegs, like stool legs) and make their way to their destination. Once the pie is removed, they trundle home again to be reused. They have to be cleaned manually, however.
Technically, the pie-safe first "ate" a dwarf, so I suppose that makes it a "dwarf-eating" (spoiler: dwarves are just a race of humans... shhh. don't tell DnD) pie safe, and it was only after said dwarf had stolen more than 10 pies.
"A great man shows his greatness by the way he treats a lesser man." I'm pleased you keep your Nagging Hat tucked away in a box. After all, unsolicited criticism, especially that which comes from personal bias or without helpful feedback can be discouraging to its recipients and do more harm than good. And you, sir, are a fountain of knowledge. Share it with grace and wisdom.

Wed, Mar 26rofl guess playing a table top DnD with you leading it would be as perilious to the characters as it would be hilarious for the players. When I was not hosting, I was playing - as you might have guessed - a dwarf. A grumpy one.

Wed, Mar 26HA! I shoulda guessed that one. I was WAY off, though. When I was in middle school the boys would all hide in the boys bathroom to play DnD because they didn't want girls getting involved. I have never played and most of my RP experience comes from WoW.
However, I would LOVE to meet this grumpy dwarf!

Wed, Mar 26Ah, sad story that. The wild roving warrior met a witch one day (incidentally introducing her to playing the German copy version of DnD), they married and now she's not letting him travel. He retired long time ago. *wink*

Wed, Mar 26??
character = fictional figure, often represented by a painted token to visualise his position in a table top game
player = person taking part in the game after having created a character
According to an older book (Gen. 1:26) I would think that when creating or enacting a character in an RPG there is more to be seen of the player than one might expect at first glance.
Or I completely misunderstood your question.

Wed, Mar 26My characters are a part of me, but I am not my characters. Even the ones I RP. I just expected everyone made that distinction, but your response to my hope of getting to meet said dwarf one day (as in stories or former artworks), would suggest otherwise. It seemed clarification was in order: I was talking about meeting the dwarf/character, when it seemed you thought I meant otherwise.
Personally, I have a catalog of over 300 characters. And growing. I can't imagine trying to live vicariously through each and every one of them. I think they call that Dissociative Identity Disorder (and someone would recommend medication. Eventually.)
Hope that clears things up.

Wed, Mar 26Haha. I doubt that a "Schwarzes Auge" = Black Eye character would stand any chance in an RPG outside his own world, especially since it became MY world: here a clever thought was mightier than the biggest sword.
Meeting the poor fella would have been a short episode. Especially since he was more the McGuyver type of dwarf, creating things, opening doors (no, not with his foot) - admittedly there he deviated a bit from his creator. And although I played him for about 8 years, I never got round to "be" somebody else.
So, 300 characters harshly beats the numer of entities (pet names my wife gets awarded for the things she does) that have acumulated in our household. And that's as much of a fantasy world we get (apart from my doodles here).
