Case Study 2

Turning a concept sketch into a fully realized visual is one of the most rewarding parts of my workflow, and it’s where tools like SketchUp and Lumion really shine.
The hand-drawn sketch shown here, created by ZiwiCreates (sourced from their Instagram account), captures the essence of a classical museum façade with warm tones, expressive linework, and a clear sense of form. It’s a beautiful starting point—full of character, mood, and artistic intent.
Using that sketch as the foundation, I rebuilt the scene in SketchUp to establish accurate geometry, scale, and proportion. SketchUp’s modeling tools allowed me to quickly translate the illustrated structure into a precise digital form while preserving the personality and composition of the original artwork. Once the model was complete, Lumion took the visualization to the next level. Lighting, weather, material textures, and environmental details were added to transform the simple digital model into a full-color, realistic rendering.
This workflow highlights the advantage of integrating SketchUp and Lumion into the design process. A single sketch can evolve into a highly accurate, immersive image that clients and stakeholders can immediately connect with. The transition from a creative drawing to a photo-real visualization helps bridge the gap between concept and final design, making communication clearer and decision-making easier.
This comparison speaks to what I love most about digital visualization: honoring the original art, expanding on its vision, and showing what a design can truly become.
