This visualization reimagines a historic Union Pacific Big Boy steam locomotive (No. 4018) as it rests within a tranquil forest setting, merging the strength of industrial design with the serenity of nature. Created entirely in SketchUp and Lumion, the project emphasizes atmosphere, lighting, and material realism to evoke a sense of quiet nostalgia and timeless engineering.
The piece highlights how efficient visualization tools can produce cinematic results in a fraction of the time required by more complex rendering platforms such as Blender, Maya, or Unreal. It demonstrates the balance between technical precision and artistic composition — showing how simplified workflows can achieve depth, storytelling, and emotional resonance.
