Mr Osborne
3D Render by BelmonttyOne of my older pieces, from 2017 to be exact, made in Poser Pro 2014.
Nowadays, people would say this was touched up with AI. That’s one of the negative side effects that AI is currently leaving behind, both in illustration and the 3D world: any render that doesn't have that typical 'Daz look' is immediately dismissed as, 'Oh, it's AI, Daz doesn't give such smooth results.' Just like a user on this site, some guy named 'shitgardnumbers', has said multiple times about my renders (though maybe they have a point, since this is Poser Pro).
I used to love the characters and highly detailed textures from creators like Mortem Vetus and Studio Art Vartanian. It's a shame they only made it as far as Genesis and stopped creating =(
Michael 4 from Daz, rendered in Poser Pro, IBL ligths, mortem vetus textures.

This is amazing. Yes a true shame about both the creators. I know that Studio Art Vartanian passed away a number of years ago, which is why she no longer creates her amazing work.

Thu, May 28Yes, I heard when Studio Art Vartanian passed away, it was a shock to me. I used to buy all her products, and she would leave comments and likes on my renders. That’s life.
Many thanks for the comment!.

The futher one manages to avoid the typical DAZ look, the closer you get to being accused of using AI. What a weird situation, especially since some also claimed that composing prefabricated stuff (props, characters) is no art, either.
Nice render btw. There are still items available by Mortem Vetus on Renderosity, unfortunately only for M4 (always liked the skins on his models), as for Art Vartanian RabbitMonster already gave the infrmation.

Thu, May 28Exactly. Years ago, when I started making and sharing my illustrations, some people said that using 3D elements was 'cheating,' and that everything should be painted with a brush from scratch. Meanwhile, the 3D community said that 'touching things up in Photoshop is cheating' and that renders should look 'natural.'
Tools have changed now, but the debates haven't really changed that much haha.
Yes, there are still things from Mortem Vetus and ArtVartanian on Renderosity. I have all of them, even the relics that were kept on Daz after the Runtime DNA sale. It's a shame they didn't make any more.
Best, Maru

I have some of their older stuff, they did make really nice textures. I always incorporate post work on my renders. Never use AI on them though. It just defeats the purpose of spending hours on hammering out the concepts in my head.
Love this guy, by the way!
