No AI - The Old Ruins

Still, the stories clung to her, not because of fear, but because of what they promised. On a cool spring morning, when the village felt smaller than it ever had, she turned her back on the fields and followed the old road. If something had truly been left behind in that place, even a fragment of it could mean warmth in winter, bread without counting coins, a future that didn’t feel so fragile.
She took the torch and the hammer her father kept by the door, their weight familiar, almost comforting and carried them like borrowed courage. With every step north, the world grew quieter, until even her thoughts felt too loud. The ruins rose out of the stone like the ribs of something long dead and for a moment she hesitated, her heart tight, breath shallow caught between the ache to turn back and the hope that had carried her this far. Fear settled in her chest, not sharp, but heavy, threaded with dreams she didn’t dare name.
She found a small clearing not overgrown by nature and slipped inside, telling herself that hope often asks more than it gives.
That some doors only open when you choose not to look away.
