Dust and Crimes
3D Render by slofkoskyJohn slept like a man who’d gotten a little too comfortable. Boots on the desk. Hat over his eyes. Smoke curling up from the cigar dying slow in the ashtray.
Madeline stood over him, tipped the whiskey bottle, and let a thin stream pour onto the crown of his hat.
John jolted upright. “What the hell!
“You were nappingMadeline said.
“I was thinking.
“With your mouth open?
He wiped bourbon from his face and glared at her. Then he noticed the cloth money sack in her hand.
“What’s that?
“The bank’s money.
John narrowed his eyes. “You robbed the bank!?!
Madeline smiled. “No. I robbed the men robbing it. There’s a difference.
He looked at the wanted poster on the wall with her face on it, then back at her. “One day Madeline, I’m gonna arrest you.
“You keep saying that sheriff.
“And you keep giving me reasons.
She leaned closer, voice soft and amused. “Then go on. Catch me.
John looked at her a second too long, then took the sack from her hand.
“You’re trouble.
“I knowshe said. “That’s why you keep the poster up.
NOTES:-------------
Madeline is sporting her original Librarian Hair style. The sharp edges just seemed to fit better for the scene.
Thirteen days since my last post. Life's been in the way.
I tripled up the pouring water stream to try to thicken it up. Still too thin. Using x, y or z scale messed with too much for it to land where I needed it.
Never rendered the "cloth money sack", just imagine it's there.
Just to be transparent, I used AI this time only to alter the original Madeline “Wantedposter I made into the one you see on the wall. That’s the big reveal. I did not mark this as “AI Enhancedbecause to me that suggests the full image was altered by AI, when in reality it was only used on a small background detail. Everything else was non-AI, with all additional edits done manually in the free versions of Google Snapseed and Affinity Canva.
I added the RAW render to slot #1 for comparison. Original "WANTED" poster

This scene is just brilliant. Really. Creative, cool, and with exactly the kind of dry humor that makes it stick. The interaction between them feels so natural, like you just dropped into a moment that's been going on long before we arrived. Lighting and postwork, as always, absolutely on point. It supports the scene without ever trying too hard just sits there and works. And I have to admit, I had to smile about the clothing "issue" you mentioned elsewhere. Some things just belong to the process I hope you're doing well and had a good Easter. And honestly, it's completely fine not to post every other day. There's more to life than keeping a feed alive and it would be a shame if people were forgotten just because they take a break. For what it's worth: I definitely won't forget you - nice to meet you here

13 Hours agoThank you so kindly Samara! It's so true that someone doesn't have to keep up posting to be connected or relevant. For me, I talk too much about my mental health, and specifying the length of time between renders is kind of a gauge of how things are going. The longer the posts between images, generally the worse things are for me. I always love your deep and thought provoking ideas! keep them going my friend... LOVE THEM!
