Polygon Reducer & LOD Generator
Our online Polygon Reducer & LOD Generator lowers the triangle count of OBJ, FBX, glTF, STL and PLY models while keeping UV seams, materials and rigs, and downloads each LOD level as GLB, OBJ, STL or PLY.

Levels & Downloads
LOD1 to LOD4 hold 50%, 25%, 12.5% and 6.25% of the source's triangles.
Polygon Reducer & LOD Generator for 3D Models
Use this free online polygon reducer to lower the polygon count of a 3D model and generate levels of detail directly in your browser. It opens OBJ, FBX, glTF, GLB, STL and PLY files, builds four reduced versions from your mesh and downloads them as GLB, OBJ, STL or PLY, with no desktop application and no upload to a server.
Reduce Polygons Without Breaking UVs or Materials
The reducer collapses the edges that change the shape least, so detail is removed where it shows least. UV seams, open edges and material borders are held in place, which keeps textures from smearing or tearing and keeps every material on the faces it belongs to. Normals are rebuilt with the hard edges of the source model, and face flips and pinched geometry are rejected during the reduction. Each protection can be switched off under the viewer when a model calls for it.
Generate LOD1 to LOD4 as Triangles or Quads
Every model gets the same four levels at a half, a quarter, an eighth and a sixteenth of the original polygons, the steps most LOD setups use. Levels are triangles by default, as game engines use them. Tick Keep quads and a quad model is reduced by removing whole edge loops instead, so every level stays quads with its loops in place. The levels are rebuilt whenever an option changes, and you can download a single level or all five as one zip, named with the _LOD0 to _LOD4 suffixes that Unity and Unreal Engine recognize.
Compare Every Level in the 3D Viewer
The viewer opens in wireframe so the topology is the first thing you see. Switch between the levels while the camera stays where it is, or hold the compare button to see the original in the same view. Shaded, textured and polygon type views show how the mesh changed, and turntable or trackball rotation, zoom and pan work the same way as in the Model Inspector.
Check Face Counts, Deviation and File Size
Each level lists its faces, triangles and vertices, the reduction, the largest and mean deviation from the original surface in model units and as a share of the model size, the quads, UV seams and materials kept, and the estimated file size in each output format. Notes point out anything worth a look, such as concave or bent n-gons in the source or a level where seams had to give way. Copy the complete statistics as text to keep with the asset.
Keep Rigs and Animations in Game-Ready Exports
Rigged models exported from FBX or glTF keep their skeleton, skin weights and animation clips in the GLB download, with weights carried through the reduction. OBJ and PLY downloads keep quads where the levels have them, GLB and STL are written as triangles, and OBJ exports include the MTL file and texture images. This makes the tool useful for preparing game assets, lightening scans and sculpts, building LOD sets for real-time scenes and shrinking models for the web.
