PA Test of the P1800 Infantry Rifle (Baker) for DAZ Studio
3D Render by EltucoSoon to be offered is the British Board of Ordnance Infantry Rifle, Pattern of 1800. Informally dubbed The Baker after its designer, this weapon was the first successful rifled firelock issued to select Crown Forces, serving through the Napoleonic Era until replaced by the unfairly maligned Brunswick Rifle from 1838. Handy, reliable, sturdy and accurate, the Baker's popularity has re-surged with historians, shooters and re-enactors piqued by the exploits of the fictitious Richard Sharpe of the 95th Rifles.
The Baker depicted has the rounded patch box, mid-production flat lock, two-leaf folding sight and second pattern bayonet to represent a late Napoleonic weapon. The patch box opens, and the lock and sight pivot for posing. Textures are set light as always to accommodate light and taste, though the Baker differs from contemporary line muskets in having an acid-browned and lacquered barrel, case-hardened lock, and fire-blued hardware. The barrel will be set to a dull grey; browning and/or lacquering can be easily achieved in DAZ Surfaces sliders in moments without additional textures.
Proof marks and ciphers are present. The butt plate tang is marked for the 2/95th Rifles per a surviving example. My original Baker was from the 3/95th and similarly but more elegantly marked; like a dumbass, I didn't keep the photos when I passed it on.
The bayonet and scabbard will be included.
Images show the stock with included textures and applied textures to test potential appearances. The last shows the weapon 'out of the box' (top) and with darkened 'out of the box' textures (bottom).
Hope this one adds a useful addition to your library. Might have to charge a nominal fee for this one

Very nice looking Baker rifle. As a shooter from a young age (clay pigeon) and later a time spent with 5RGJ I can appreciate this piece of history. I should finish of the costumes to match.
Thanks for your previous muskets, I should make some time to get them rendered, and rated.

Wed, Dec 31, 2025Thanks bonj and I hope you have some fun with them. The Baker still needs a little work - some profile changes around the trigger guard and a few texture adjustments. The swelled ramrod is going to have to go undone as it's a bit of a pain and would only be noticeable only when drawn.
Remember to play with texture settings - the guns were set up with this in mind
