Almost Human (Part 6 Finale)

Mara had told him everything.
Not all of it.
Not enough for forgiveness.
But enough to understand why his face had appeared on her phone beneath those cold words.
Enough to understand he had never been the real target.
He was leverage.
A test.
A chain placed around her throat.
Now the taxi waited at the curb, its open door spilling light into the rain.
Mara stood beside it, soaked through, one hand wrapped around the handle of her bag.
For once, she had no plan beyond this moment.
No assignment.
No command.
No calculation that could tell her what Javier would choose.
“I don’t know if I can do thishe said.
The words struck harder than any weapon she had ever faced.
Mara did not move.
She wanted to tell him she understood.
She wanted to tell him to run.
She wanted to tell him to come with her.
Instead, she looked at him through the rain and said the only truth she knew how to say.
“I don’t know what they built me to be anymoreshe said. “I only know I choose you.
Then she stood there, soaked and trembling, waiting to learn if that would be enough.

A magnificent illustration and a very human ending for her 
As for sequels, I think the movie industry has created quite a few in the action-movie genre 
You're absolutely right-this ending leaves us with plenty of options.
I'd suggest this one… the blue one or the red one:
He throws himself at her and kisses her; the rain stops… They realize that time has stood still; a man appears through an ether portal. He says, "True love opens the gates of paradise for you." … They look at each other and, without hesitation, step through…
The next day's newspaper reports that a "mixed-race" couple was found murdered in town....
Another story will reveal bullets impregnated with a mysterious substance...

I could shake you in frustration right now, Thomas! LOL You totally left me hanging. Storytelling at its finest, my friend! "I only know I choose you." That is the most human response to be had. Choices and humanity go hand in hand. In my mind I was yelling at Javier, "Choose her! Choose her!" But alas, we don't know if Javier did or not. This is been an awesome love story, my sweet friend. Thank you for sharing your creativity with us <3
