Almost Human (Part 3)
3D Render by slofkoskyFor three days Mara found reasons not to call him.
On the fourth day she finally ran out of excuses.
Now, sitting across from him in a crowded diner, she found herself smiling at stories she normally wouldn't have listened to and laughing at jokes that weren't particularly funny.
The coffee had gone cold long ago.
Still neither of them seemed interested in leaving.
People usually ran out of questions.
Ran out of patience.
Or ran out of reasons to stay.
Yet somehow the hours kept slipping by.
It felt easy.
That was the part she couldn't understand.
Not the conversation.
Not the laughter.
Just how natural it all felt.

Yes, still adding to the story, little by little.

This is such a relatable scene, Thomas. I love how you used the short sentences to capture the separate moment in time. It is a brilliant storytelling method. There is something about those "natural" moments that make them the most significant in a relationship. I'm looking forward to where you are taking us with the two of them. I hope you are doing well, my sweet friend. <3

Thu, Jun 25Hey thank you always Kirsten. It's funny that I cut so much of the story too and originally, she wrote her name and phone number in his book from part 2. But, that all changed, gave her the power to decide what she wanted to do when he asked her to coffee.
I always appreciate your time and comments my friend. Hope you are doing wonderful too!

I really like the warm atmosphere in this scene. The lighting feels very natural, especially the soft light on Mara's face, and the reflections in the café window add a nice sense of depth.☕
What caught my attention most is how relaxed the whole composition feels. There isn't any dramatic action, just two people enjoying a conversation, and that quiet moment comes across very convincingly.
I'm curious to see where Mara's story goes next.

Thu, Jun 25I thank you so very much for noticing these little things Samara! I'm trying to capture a moment rather than an exciting action packed moment in the last few images. I probably wont finish all images by the time the contest is over but I'll still continue it.
OH! The story continues! I believe I am now invested in how this turns out! Wonderfully done! Best of luck!

Thu, Jun 25I so appreciate that you are following along islandgirl! Thank you and appreciate you taking the time to see and read what is happening in Mara's world.
Very much like the expression and pose on her, I can see why he wants to stay around....although I'm a little concerned for him going by 'Part 1' of this series....looking forward to where or what she ends up as. Always a pleasure to view your work

It really is a conundrum. Can she overcome her progamming.
Time will tell.
