Almost Human
3D Render by slofkoskyThe assignment had been simple.
Gain his trust.
Get close.
Leave no witnesses.
She had completed every objective exactly as programmed.
So why couldn't she leave?
The smoke curled upward in the darkness. Somewhere beneath layers of synthetic skin and carefully written code, a feeling she could not identify refused to let go.
It felt remarkably human.
----------
Created for the Sexy Robot Contest 3
Model is Mousso's Mara and possibly Mousso's River HD's skin.
This took two weeks to finish. More because of headspace and trying so many different models, hair, poses, etc. Moving her hair forward, covered her face just enough that I hated it. So I left it "unaffected" by gravity like it's a synthetic wig. Put an alternate hair AND character I was messing with in another slot before I tried the robot add-ons.
NO AI of course, just post edits in the free Affinity Canva and Google Snapseed.

Hi,
Great atmosphere and, as always, lots of narrative details-well done!
I haven't been around much lately, too much work.. :s

Sat, Jun 06I very appreciate it Keld! Too much work makes for an unhappy life. Unless of course you love your work, and in that case... carry on. Thanks again!
WOW! This is fantastic, Thomas. The story had me wanting to see if she explores that feeling more or if her cybernetic brain overwrites the code seeing it as an error?!? Your lighting and posing blow me away every time. I should be used to them by now, but I am in awe each time. Good luck with the contest, my sweet friend <3

Sat, Jun 06I too wondered if there should be more to the story... maybe. But, how I've been lately with art, it's getting harder to find the time and motivation. But, we must all persist!
Also thank you for commenting on the lighting. I was afraid that I'm getting too HDRI like on my work, but it's also an area that I have been trying to push myself all within Daz. Oh oh, did you try the new Daz Studio 6? Or possibly the Beta before the release? I love how fast things load and operate.

Sat, Jun 06I totally understand about it sometimes getting hard to find the time and motivation. But, yes we must persist. I know for me, my artwork is an extension of my mind and heart. If I don't create art, I feel like something is broken inside me. Does that make sense?
You are a master lighter, Thomas. I don't think it is too HDRI at all. I just installed Daz 6 (I think it installed at least) I tried to also keep Daz 4.24, but I'm sure if I was successful at that either! LOL I not the best technically when it comes to Daz. I'm looking forward to seeing how Daz 6 works. I believe you said back in the Daz gallery that you had been using the Beta. Do you like it?

Tue, Jun 09It's been a more positive than not experience for me at least. I feel these things are much faster:
-Loading and Saving
-Moving a character around. ie grab a hand and move the arm around in real time
-Loading figures into the scene, materials, etc.
About the same:
-dforce
-Final render time
Slower:
-Viewport when in iray mode and rotating the scene around
Changes:
-All of your settings are reset to the default environment
-The "Surfaces" tab, going to the sub-"Presets" tab, everything is just combined together.
-Crashed on me twice in the last week
All in all, the speed is an incredible improvement. I use to be so frustrated that when I move an arm, it could take a minute or longer just to catch up. That's pretty much gone now.
Sorry for the long reply my friend. Hope you are doing incredible!

Tue, Jun 09I love your animated gif's. They're always fun to see and this one is strange but very comical too! The way he stretches his mouth just busts me up.
Thank you Sza Trippie!

9 Hours agoI thank you so very much RenderStar! Damn! You create such amazing ladies.
Hi Tom, once again, a wonderful, evocative atmosphere that lets the viewer not only see the scene but also feel it. I really like the lighting. No matter how it was created, it looks exactly how I'd want it to in a similar situation.
Yeah, I wonder what the cyborg lady is up to? Probably depends on exactly how those three rules were programmed? And how far her system has learned to learn...
Great job...

8 Hours agoThank you so much Samara! I have a short five scene/story lined up... just don't know if I can finish it. So, not really wanting to start it because of that.
I always appreciate what you have to say and yeah, it got me thinking about what where her old programming ends, and new routines take her. That's how the story has evolved. Thank you my friend for the question!
